Steilacoom Historical School District Levy Forums

January 20, 2014 By The Suburban Times

The Steilacoom Historical School District (SHSD) is running an election on February 11th to renew their maintenance and operations levy. This is NOT a new tax but a renewal of the existing levy.

The State only funds about 80% of education so school district must rely on local levies for about 20% of their operating funds. These funds are used for things like textbooks, transportation, special education, arts, athletics, technology, reduced class size and maintenance and operations.

Steilacoom Historical School District currently has the lowest rate in the County and that statistic will remain the same for the next four years. The Steilacoom Historical School District has an exceptional reputation and award winning schools. They create a safe and positive learning environment which generates above average test scores.

Two local forums will be held to provide additional information. Join us!

· DuPont – Thursday, January 23, 2014, 6:30 p.m. at the DuPont City Hall

· Steilacoom – Thursday, January 23, 2014, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Steilacoom Town Hall

We ask for your support at this critical time so we can continue to provide the best possible education for every student. Vote YES for the Steilacoom Historical School District levy on February 11. For more information please check out our website at www.SupportSHSDStudents.com
