On Wednesday, January 8 at 7 pm in Suite D-2 (next to the museum) Windmill Village (UP City Hall), the UP Historical Society will be holding its regular January meeting. Paul Curtiss, UPHS member and railroad/railway enthusiast, will give a presentation on the Tacoma and Steilacoom Railway Company.
Those of you weren’t here in the late 1890’s won’t remember a railway running from Tacoma to Steilacoom. The railway came from Tacoma and ran down what is now Bridgeport Way, with a stop at the old Drexler House, near 35th & Bridgeport (Denny’s). Then it went on to… Wait a minute, if you want to find out more about the history of our City/region you will have to hear Paul’s presentation at next Wednesday’s UP Historical Society meeting.
As always, the UP Historical Society meeting/presentations are a community service provided by the society and open to the public.
