Steilacoom High School grad, Dr. Rebecca Black Caro (2004) was honored during the Dec. 28 Halftime Ceremony at the Annual Alumni Basketball Game.
Linda Evanson, representing the Steilacoom Historical Education Foundation (SHEF) presented the honor.
Caro, the daughter of Jerry Black (former SHS principal) and Roberta Black (current SHS French teacher) and wife of Mario Caro, was honored as distinguished alumnus for 2013. Becky and her husband are parents of a year-old daughter, Lillian.
Becky graduated Cum Laude in 2008 from Pacific Lutheran University with a B.S. in Biology, and a minor in French.
The following year she was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. She next graduated from the Western University of Health Sciences, College of Medicine of the Pacific with a Doctorate in Osteopathy in 2013.
Currently she serves as a Resident in Family Medicine at Womack Army Medical Center, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
This past November she was selected as a research presenter for the upcoming 2014 U.S. Family Medicine Conference to be held in Washington, D. C.
