Caring for Kids, an all-volunteer community organization, held its annual Holiday Fair on December 14th at Hudtloff Middle School. Preparation for this event takes all year with shopping starting the day after Christmas for the following year. Working directly with the schools, families were chosen to participate in this yearly event.
On Friday December 13th volunteers from the schools and the community set-up about $50,000 worth of gifts and food. Saturday morning everyone arrived at 7:30 A.M. to prepare for the 648 families, which served over 2,000 kids in need. Each family received gifts and a ham and potatoes. By 2:15 P.M. the building was vacant. Thanks to volunteers and a lot of hard work hundreds of kids would have a smile on their face when the Caring for Kids’ Santa arrived!
A big thank you to everyone who made the Holiday Fair a success! For more information please email carekids@comcast.net or call Diane 253-279-9777.
