With just a few more months until ground breaking, the community can identify the future 110,000 square-foot-facility as the Gordon Family YMCA, with the abundant support of the Gordon family, longtime Sumner residents and employers.
“Our family has deep roots in the community here, going back decades. We are excited to make a great investment in the future of an area that has given much to our family and businesses, and where we’ll continue to live and work for many years to come,” said Larry Gordon.
The Gordon family has been an active employer since 1946 for nearly 1,000 residents in and around the area through Gordon Trucking, Heartland Express of Iowa. Beginning with two trucks, they now have over 2,000 and are known for safety and reliability.
“We are humbled to have the Gordon family – who is so engrained in the community – give so generously to what will be the community hub of Sumner and serve an expected 22,000 people,” said YMCA President and CEO Bob Ecklund.
Additional naming opportunities are available for those interested in leaving their own legacy by example of the Gordon family and other generous donors.Print This Post
