Bienvenido. Velkomin. Mabuhay. Welcome.
Whatever language you prefer, the message is the same: Check out the global array of cuisine and shopping in Lakewood’s International District.
The City of Lakewood has installed International District cultural banners on light poles along the South Tacoma Way Corridor. Some of the bright, locally designed banners, funded by a lodging tax grant, were hung Thursday, and the remainder will go up Monday, Dec. 16. The banners will provide increased awareness of Lakewood’s large International District – which offers goods from an array of cultures and ethnicities, including Korean, Latino and Vietnamese.
The City plans to complement the banners with a tourism promotion and outreach program in the upcoming months to highlight the many cultural restaurants and shopping opportunities located in this District.
