JBLM Force Protection Exercise December 5 Impacts Base Access and more

December 4, 2013 By The Suburban Times

Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. — JBLM officials will conduct a Force Protection exercise Thursday, December 5 as part of an annual Installation Management Command (IMCOM) requirement to ensure JBLM’s leadership and first responders are prepared to respond to a variety of security threats and able to protect personnel, resources, and property.

During the exercise people working, conducting business, or visiting JBLM should anticipate detours in vehicle traffic patterns, restricted access to some buildings and possible disruption to various customer service activities.  JBLM McChord Field residents in the Heartwood Housing Area will see an increased presence of emergency and first responder vehicle traffic and activity in the vicinity of the vacant Heartwood Elementary School.

JBLM officials and exercise planners have developed the exercise scenario to ensure response actions do not impede traffic along Interstate 5.

During the exercise people can receive updates to buildings, roadways, and services impacted by the exercise by logging on to the JBLM Facebook page at www.facebook.com/JBLewisMcChord.

For questions about the exercise, call the JBLM Public Affairs office at (253) 967-0152 or (253) 967-0148.
