Stop by the Lakewood History Museum at 6211 Mt Tacoma Dr SW for its annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 7th from 2-4 pm to get into the holiday spirit. View vintage and handmade decorations, partake of Christmas cookies and cider and learn more about the Colonial Center’s Yule Log Ceremony. Come meet the newest artist, Mark Rogers, from the Rainier League of Arts, who has his work on display.
The decorations include blue lights twinkling on garland, reminiscent of the time when the Colonial Center was a “must visit” for Christmas shopping by many Pierce County residents. Miniature houses are placed throughout the Museum displays.
A Society membership starting at $20 would be a perfect gift idea for friends or relatives who are out of the area or for those who “have everything”. The membership includes a fabulous 12 page quarterly newsletter chuck full of great Lakewood area history and photos from “the good old days” of the Lakes District.
Learn more about next year’s plans for a gingerbread house contest. Workshops are being offered this month throughout the Pierce County Library System.
