Congratulations and Thank You

November 28, 2013 By Steilacoom Historical School District

By Celeste Johnston, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent

Two very dedicated and hardworking Steilacoom Historical School Board Directors will be recognized at the December 11, 2013, regularly scheduled school board meeting to be held at Pioneer Middle School. Mr. Mike Winkler, who has served as a board member for eight years and Mr. Kevin Callanan, serving for four years, chose not to run for another term. Both directors have assisted in the oversight of major construction projects and the advancement of teaching and learning in all District schools.

Mr. Winkler’s knowledge of school funding and student achievement initiatives contributed significantly to the District’s success. Mr. Callanan’s passion for Career and Technical Education as well as his focus on facility maintenance will have a lasting effect on the District’s future plan of work.

Position 2 will be filled by Mr. Bob Forbes and Mr. Jason Pierce was elected to fill Position 3. A thank you reception and swearing-in ceremony will be on the agenda of the December 11 meeting. Mr. Don Denning will also be re-sworn in after running unopposed for Position 1.

The award winning Pioneer Middle School Young Women’s Choir will also perform at this meeting. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Pioneer Middle School is located at 1750 Bob’s Hollow Lane, DuPont, WA.
