On Tuesday at approximately 3:45 PM, West Pierce responded to a residential structural fire in the 2700 block of Natalie Lane. No one was injured, however, the family in the home was displaced.
The Chief requested an additional 6 names of entry level candidates. Of the original 20 names requested, only 8 were able to be contacted and/or indicated an interest in moving forward in our process. An oral board is scheduled for December 3rd for these individuals. A special Civil Service Commission meeting is scheduled for December 6th to add the passing names to the entry level register.
Public Safety Officers Webb, Whelan, Derig have officer tactics training scheduled at the station on the 27th. This will include certifying 3 officers in the use of our “Less Lethal” shotguns.
Streets and Storm:
Joey Hollow Development:
Staff continues to work with the developer/contractor to complete the utilities, road work, and other infrastructure. The cement treatment of the roadway base scheduled for last Saturday did not occur due to equipment failure. It was rescheduled for today. Staff will be on-site to perform inspections while the work is being performed.
Sequalish Street Project;
Work continued on the sewer main between Main Street and Pacific Street. Additionally, the retaining wall at the ball field is under construction and PSE continues to relocate their facilities between Chambers Street and Union Avenue. We anticipate this work will continue for the next several weeks.
The crew focused on picking up the Christmas, placing brine on the streets, and preparing for snow and ice control.
The crew assisted in picking up the tree and will be decorating it next week. They repaired a service on Sequalish Street, responded to the fire on Natalie Street to disconnect power, and performed other system maintenance.
The Crew assisted with obtaining the Christmas tree, refurbishing the Santa sleigh, worked with the contractors at Joey Hollow, Lafayette Street Development, and Sequalish Street, and performed other system maintenance.
Parks and Grounds:
The crew worked with the Cedar Creek crew on the Commercial Street parking lot and performed other parks and buildings maintenance.
The Cedar Creek work crew worked at the Commercial Street parking facility removing blackberries, clearing weeds and moss, picking up trash, and pressure washing the surface area. This necessitated the SCC employees parking in other locations for the day. Thank you for everyone’s patience.
The Kiwanis Winefest is scheduled for January 24, 2014 at the McGavick Center. Tickets are $40 each and are available from any Kiwanis member and/or at the Public Works Building front desk.
