U.P.: Hear Jazz Saxophonist Kareem Kandi this Friday

November 20, 2013 By Debbie Klosowski

By Debbie Klosowski

Enjoy a great evening out this Friday, November 22 (7 pm – UP Civic/Library Atrium) with acclaimed Jazz Saxophonist Kareem Kandi and two local artists at UP for Arts Fall Arts & Concert series.

A well-know Pacific Northwest icon, Kareem Kandi is a performer, composer and teacher whose career includes being an artist in residence at the Tacoma School of the Arts, director of the award winning Pierce College student jazz group and conductor of numerous master classes throughout the Pacific Northwest as well as a featured performer at numerous events.

Also featured are two local artists:  Fred Langton who is an accomplished wood scroll saw artist, creating intricate mosaics, charming holiday decorations and other works of art.  Rise Windell (Layla and Me Pet and Nature Photography) will also be on hand selling her 2014 calendars featuring Chambers Bay and the Birds of Chambers Bay — just in time for great holiday gifts!

UP for Arts and Skelley Piano are sponsoring the event which runs from 7 pm to 8:30pm.  Free parking is available in front of the building as well as the parking garage underneath the library.  Admission is free for UP for Arts members, $10 for adults and $5 for students.
