Training Burn to be Conducted in Lakewood

November 20, 2013 By West Pierce Fire & Rescue

By Jenny Weekes, Captain, West Pierce Fire District 2

LAKEWOOD – On Thursday, November 21, 2013, West Pierce Fire & Rescue will be conducting a training burn of a home near 10700 Farwest Drive SW in Lakewood, beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Residents in that area will see an increase in traffic, as well as smoke in the area until the burn is concluded that afternoon.

Firefighters will be practicing fire attack and behavior, among other operational tactics.  Residents in the area are being notified of the event via reverse 911 through Pierce County Department of Emergency Management.  Should residents have questions about this event, please call our main office at (253) 564-1623.

This is also an advisory for the media in case there are reports of a fire in the area.  We will be training until the burn is concluded, most likely until late afternoon.
