Construction partners celebrate school project completion with science education donation

November 7, 2013 By Clover Park School District

Hillside Elementary School students will benefit from a $6,500 check for science education from BCRA, Skanska and OAC on Friday, Nov. 8 during the school’s Veteran’s Day assembly.

What: Check presentation from BCRA, Skanska and OAC.

Where: Hillside Elementary School, 61700 Garcia Blvd. on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). JBLM is a secure military installation. You must have proper identification to enter the base.

Who: Representatives from BCRA, Skanska and OAC

When:  Friday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m.

Why: The $6,500 will be used to fund science education at Hillside Elementary School. The principal will determine how best to supplement the current science offerings and maximize these funds, i.e., with field trips.  A separate check was given to Carter Lake Elementary School during the school’s grand opening celebration on Oct. 16.

The three companies were involved with the construction of the new Carter Lake and Hillside Elementary Schools, which were completed in September. BCRA was the architect and Skanska and OAC were involved with the project management and construction. Carter Lake and Hillside were the first schools in the country to be built under the Military Child Initiative.

U.S. Rep. Denny Heck will also speak during the Veteran’s Day assembly.
