Clover Park School District is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the district’s board of directors created by the resignation of Jose Salamanca at the board’s Oct. 28 meeting.
Salamanca, a board member since December 2011, resigned his position as Director of District One effective Nov. 1, 2013.
Applications for the Director District One position will be accepted in the superintendent’s office through Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at 5 p.m.
An applicant orientation session, which will include eligibility requirements, will be held Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at 4 p.m. in room 4 of the Student Services Center (SSC), 10903 Gravelly Lake Drive SW in Lakewood.
The board will hold a special meeting to interview candidates and review candidate applications on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. in room 4 of the SSC.
The board expects to swear in the selected candidate on Monday, Jan. 13.
The successful appointee will serve until the next regular school district election, which will occur in November 2015. Candidate filing is scheduled for Monday through Friday, the first full week of June 2014.
To be legally eligible for the office of school director a person must be a:
- Registered voter in the school district; and
- Registered voter in the director district within the school district, if applicable.
- To register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, a legal resident of Washington State, and at least 18 years old by Election Day.
Director District One generally covers the neighborhoods serving students of Carter Lake, Oakwood, Southgate and Tyee Park Elementary Schools.
