We are extremely excited to announce our 11th annual Woodstick Big Beat 2013 this November 24th at the Emerald Queen Showroom in Tacoma. The new venue allows us to make huge improvements virtually every aspect of the event. Bigger stage, lights and PA. Onsite concessions and easier load in. This year we’ll also add video projection. At Woodstick we attempt to set a world record for the most drummers playing drum sets simultaneously. It’s open to drummers of all ages and abilities. All you need is a basic drum set and be able to play a very simple rock beat . All proceeds go to Groove Music for Youth to help them purchase musical instruments for underfunded local schools. Here’s the complete information for this amazing event. Watch your email and our website for updates. Online registration is open NOW!! I can’t wait to see you there. Free prize for the first 200 registrants.
We have a stellar line up of guest artists. Here’s who we have so far:

We have over $10,000.00 in drum gear to give away from our drum company sponsors. Someone will go home with a complete drumset and cymbals. There will be prizes for the highest fundraiser, coolest drumset, best vintage drumset, plus a random drawing for everyone who attends. We’re still compiling the list of prizes and we have more arriving every day. Watch our prizes page for updates.
Our guest artists will teach a series of free drum clinics before the event. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from some of the world’s greatest drummers in a very relaxed clinic format. Clinics are free to all participants and spectators. The clinic schedule will be posted soon.
All Woodstick proceeds will help Crime Stoppers, Groove Music for Youth purchase musical instruments to under funded local schools. All participants are strongly encouraged to help raise funds. You can raise money by asking friends to sponsor your participation in Woodstick (similar to a walk-a-thon). You can raise funds either in person or online. The top pledge raiser will win a complete drumset with cymbals. Everyone who raises over $100.00 will be entered into a drawing for a huge drum accessory package. Click HERE for complete Fundraising information.
You can register online or in person at Donn Bennett Drum Studio in Bellevue. Admission is $15.00 for participants and $10.00 for spectators. All clinics and the event are included in your admission price.
Gold and Platinum Packages:
Would you like to have a personal meet and greet with all of the Woodstick artists? Would you like to have your drums in the front row? Would you like us to bring a drumset for you and have it waiting for you in the front row? Would you like to help us support 2 great children’s charities? Check out our Gold and Platinum Packages and see how.
Woodstick cannot go on without the help of volunteers. There are many ways to help out. All volunteers can set up their drums on the day before the show and assure themselves a spot close to the stage. Contact Lori Morisette for more information and to volunteer.
One of the highlights of Woodstick is playing with the band. Picture a live band onstage with 400 drummers and you’re one of them! This year our house band will be Apple Jam. We generally play 5 or 6 songs. We choose songs that are easily recognized and simple enough for just about any drummer to play along with. You don’t need to be able to play the songs perfectly. Just keep a steady beat. This year’s songs will feature some of our guest artists. Here’s our list so far:
-Hurts So Good, John Mellencamp featuring Kenny Aronoff.
-Green River, John Fogerty featuring Kenny Aronoff.
-Hick Town, Jason Aldean featuring Rich Redmond
-Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Bad Company w/Jeff Kathan
More to be announced soon.
