The UP for Arts Fall Arts & Concert Series continues on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 (7-8:30pm) in the University Place Civic/Library Building Atrium at 3609 Market Square West.
Join us this Friday night for a fabulous evening of traditional Irish music with the well-known local band Mooncoyne. Mooncoyne performs traditional Irish songs and dance music. Three of its members performed for many years around the South Sound with Sláinte, one of the most downloaded Celtic bands on MP3.com.
Mooncoyne has been the “house band” for St. Patrick’s Day at The Spar in Old Town Tacoma for many years and has also played at Taste of Tacoma, Maritime Fest, and numerous other events, weddings and celebrations around the Puget Sound area.
Mooncoyne’s instrumentalists- on fiddles, whistles, guitar, cittern, mandolin, bodhran and percussion- are known for their colorful arrangements of the dance music of Ireland including reels, jigs, slipjigs, polkas, slides and waltzes. But with five vocalists in the group, Mooncoyne is also known for its richly harmonized versions of traditional and contemporary ballads and songs.
