Westside Story – Spider Miracle

October 7, 2013 By Joe Boyle

Spider

Story, Photo & Video – Joseph Boyle

WARNING: IF YOU SUFFER FROM ARACNOPHOBIA, DO NOT READ THIS ARTICLE OR WATCH THE VIDEO.

I ask, “How in the world can a tiny spider out-think, out-design and out-build we humans?”

Check out my video. A spider has incorporated a heavy branch and leaf into his spider construction. When I say heavy, I mean heavy in comparison to a spider web. The entire engineering achievement is hanging from a house gutter in front of a picture window.

Before any members of the militant protest group, Equality for Spiders, registers a complaint with my publisher, I will admit to not being politically correct. The spider engineer may be a she. Well, he or she, matters not. I think the fact that a spider has the design skill and materials to build an outdoor mother-nature mobile is just amazing.

Miracles are all around us. This could become the 8th wonder of the world right here in Lakewood. I will keep you posted if there is any expansion to the project.
