What? Who would try to cross an ocean in a row boat? Jordan Hanssen, that’s who!
Not satisfied with achieving a Guinness Book World Record by competing in the 2006 Rowing Race across the North Atlantic. Jordan and crew pushed off from Senegal, Africa, earlier this year, headed for Miami.
You may ask “Why?” To collect scientific ocean data and film footage for educational use.
The 29 foot rowboat, the James Robert Hanssen, named after Jordan’s dad, was sponsored by Seattle-based Ocean Adventure Rowing Northwest (O.A.R.), and the Canadian Wildlife Federation. You might have heard in the news of the dramatic rescue by the U.S. Coast Guard off the coast of Puerto Rico. Join us in listening as Captain Jordan Hanssen tells “the rest of the story” of both of his Atlantic crossings.
