Free preview of opera comedy at Pierce County Library System

September 16, 2013 By The Suburban Times

A funny, eloquent and endlessly enjoyable comedy will entertain music and theater lovers during free opera previews at three Pierce County Libraries in September and October.

Opera expert Norm Hollingshead will share an entertaining and enthusiastic free preview of the Seattle Opera production of Gaetano Donizetti’s “The Daughter of the Regiment.” Friends of the Libraries sponsor these free events.

Gig Harbor Pierce County Library, 4424 Point Fosdick Drive N.W.
Sunday, Oct. 13, 2 p.m.

Lakewood Pierce County Library, 6300 Wildaire Road S.W.
Saturday, Sept. 21, 2p.m.

Milton/Edgewood Pierce County Library, Surprise Lake Square, 900 Meridian E., Suite 29, Milton
Wednesday, Sept. 18. 5, 7 p.m.

Donizetti’s lively and graceful comedy sparkles with high notes and great fun. In order to be together, two young lovers break down the social barriers between the military and polite society. The superb score includes exhilarating showcase arias, terrific ensemble pieces, and a healthy dose of musical parody.
