CPTC again named a top Military Friendly School

September 12, 2013 By Clover Park Technical College

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Clover Park Technical College has once again been named one of the top Military Friendly Schools® for 2014.

The 2014 Military Friendly Schools® list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

“Our commitment to support both our local military bases and the veterans who have served has been consistent and intentional,” said Dr. John Walstrum, president of Clover Park Technical College. “Many of our programs are designed to ensure the men and women who have served our country can easily transition from service to civilian. Our goal is to honor their service by supporting them in their pursuit of further education.”

CPTC has had a record number of Veterans enrolled in the last year. During Fall 2012 to Summer 2013, CPTC has 1,608 Veterans certified to receive benefits. That number has increased from 1,453 at the same time last year.

“Our goal has always been to provide our Veteran students with wrap around services that ensure their needs are met as they seek an expanded education,” said June Stacey-Clemons, vice president for student services. “We do that through an active Student Veterans club, a Veterans’ Resource Center, and dedicated personnel who guide them through the process.”

CPTC’s Veterans Club meets on the second Thursday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon in room 107 of Building 16. The club can be reached by emailing pr@cptcvetsclub.org.

The campus also has a Veteran’s Resource Center located on campus in Building 22 that is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In the Veterans Resource Center students can use computers, relax between classes, or seek assistance from the Veteran’s Navigator.
