JBLM’s Army Continuing Education System to host an Apprenticeship and College Fair

September 11, 2013 By The Suburban Times

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – JBLM’s Army Continuing Education System will host a combined Apprenticeship and College Fair Thursday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Wilson Gym on JBLM Lewis North.

JBLM leaders expect more than 2000 attendees for this day-long event. More than 40 trade and labor organizations will be on base, along with over 80 colleges targeting military members and their families for the fair.

Military operators will be paired with licensed Washington State operators to provide opportunity for transitioning military to drive backhoes, skid steers, front loaders, grades, dozers, cranes and a dump truck. In addition, electrical circuits, virtual industrial painters, jack hammers, dry-wallers, glazers, carpenters, and tile workers will demonstrate their crafts. Career and Technical colleges will also be available to review education program options for those military and spouses who want to attend college.

Participation in the combined College & Apprenticeship Fair is open to the entire JBLM community, with a special emphasis on transitioning service members and military veterans.
