September 5, 2013 By The Suburban Times

The Tacoma/Pierce County Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has named Charles D. Thompson, formerly with the organization in South Bend, Indiana as its new executive director. This announcement was made by Cheryl Lehman, President of the Council Board of Directors.

In making the announcement, Lehman said “Charlie comes to us with nearly six years experience working for the mission of St. Vincent de Paul. We are very excited to welcome him and look forward to working with him as we try to assist those in need throughout our community.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue helping the members of this great organization with their ministry of service to the poor” stated Thompson. “St. Vincent de Paul has been active in Pierce County for many years and I look forward to being a part of its storied history.”

Thompson began his tenure in August. He is married to Kim Thompson, a native of Portland, Oregon. They have one son, Gabriel.

St. Vincent de Paul is a faith based service organization that provides financial, material and nutritional assistance along with a variety of other services to those in need. They operate three thrift stores, an online eBay store and a recycling center that all help to support the charitable mission.
