Public invited to celebrate completion of the new Hudtloff Middle School

September 2, 2013 By Clover Park School District

LAKEWOOD—Lakewood community members are invited to attend the Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Celebration for the new Hudtloff Middle School on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (8102 Phillips Road SW in Lakewood). The event will feature a brief program and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Refreshments and tours of the school will be available immediately following the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Parking is available in the front of the school—off of Phillips Road SW. Participants can park in the staff and visitors’ parking areas as well as the bus drop-off area.

The ground for the new Hudtloff Middle School was broken in March 2011. Since that time, construction crews built the new school while students remained on campus. Students and staff moved into the new school in January 2013, while the final phase of construction including athletic fields, irrigation, bus loop and parking areas, were completed.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the grand opening of the new Hudtloff Middle School with our community,” said Debbie LeBeau, superintendent of Clover Park School District. “After all, Lakewood voters trusted us to complete this project through the passage of the 2010 school construction bond proposal. I’m proud to invite our community to see the new school.”

Thanks to Lakewood-area voters, who approved a $92 million bond in 2010, Hudtloff Middle School was rebuilt and modernized. The new Harrison Preparatory School and a new elementary school (Oakwood and Southgate) are currently being built and were also part of the 2010 school construction bond. Harrison Preparatory School and the new elementary school are anticipated to be complete in 2015.
