As some of your readers may know, Steve Dunkelberger and I are collaborating on a second photo book about Lakewood history. We were hoping to ask for some help from your readers. There are three particular kinds of photographs we are looking for:
- We are looking for a picture of Flora Tenzler, who gave her name to the Lakewood Library for many years. We have photographs of her husband, courtesy of the library, but not of Flora.
- We are very interested in photos that people might have taken at memorials related to the deaths of the four Lakewood police officers in November 2009. We have access to “official” photographs but would be very interested in photographs you or someone else might have taken in association with anything commemorating their deaths such as a march or other activity. We’re looking for photographs that will help us convey to history just how important this tragedy was to us then (as it is still today)
- Any photos of business, civic and particularly religious leaders of note from the 1950s to the 1980s would also be appreciated. Yes, that does sound awfully broad, but we’re casting a wide net for interesting photos of interesting people who were important during a period that’s not well represented in traditional archives.
