Have you noticed the bright blue awning at the Steilacoom Library? No, it’s not a coffee stand. It’s a covering for the new patio area that Steilacoom Friends of the Library and PC Library have purchased. While three trees were removed to accommodate the changes; the Friends plan to install an octagonal-shaped table and seating and a bench for library patrons to enjoy the out of doors. Proceeds from Friends’ book sales help pay for these upgrades, said Steilacoom Branch Manager Patti Cox. Steilacoom Library was established in 1858 and is the oldest public library in the state.
