Pierce Transit welcomes Dana Henderson as General Counsel

August 6, 2013 By The Suburban Times

Pierce Transit welcomes Seattle attorney Dana Henderson as the Agency’s first inhouse General Counsel. Henderson brings strong litigation experience, a history of community involvement, and a commitment to quality and professionalism to her new role. She holds a Juris Doctor,
cum laude, from Tulane University School of Law, and has been a practicing attorney for 16 years.

Henderson will join the Agency on August 6 as a member of the Executive Team, reporting to CEO Lynne Griffith. Henderson comes to Pierce Transit from a highly-respected Seattle-based law firm where she was responsible for all aspects of litigation practice. She has significant transportation industry legal experience, including serving as chair of the transportation industry practice group at a previous firm, and as panel counsel for one of the nation’s largest transportation services providers. She has also served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Association of Transportation Law Professionals since 2010.

A highly-regarded legal practitioner, Henderson has authored and presented numerous continuous legal education articles and earned the prestigious “Super Lawyer” designation from Washington Law & Politics magazine. Henderson also serves the community as an active member of the Board of Directors of Compass Housing Alliance, a nonprofit organization focused on alleviating homelessness in urban areas.

The Pierce Transit Board of Commissioners endorsed the addition of the General Counsel role as part of the Agency’s reorganization to slow rising legal services costs and improve service delivery. Henderson’s duties will include acting as the central point of contact for the Agency’s legal and municipal governance needs, and providing oversight for specialized legal services contracts.
