obit_JungPatajoJung Ok Patajo, 78, passed away at Madigan Hospital in Tacoma, WA on Monday, July 29, 2013. Born in Taegu, South Korea, she has resided in Tacoma over 55 years.

Jung is survived by her daughter, Jean Pederson (Chris) of Scottsdale, AZ; sons, Cris Jr. of Tacoma, May (Denise) of Puyallup, WA, and John (Nikki) of Tacoma; six grandchildren, Benjamin, Ryan, Kara, Alec, Samantha, and Justin Pederson.

Mrs. Patajo will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She had a great passion for gardening and cooking.

We will miss her fighting spirit and will honor and pass down her values for generations to come. We thank Mom for dedicating her life to her family.

 

obit_StarrLeonardLeonard “Bud” Starr LTC, USAF Ret Leonard “Bud” Starr was born in Gardner, KS, April 23, 1933 and passed away at his home in Lakewood on July 30, 2013.  He grew up in Paola, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas. While serving as an Air Force meteorologist for twenty-three years, he also received degrees from Penn State and Oregon State.

After retirement he worked at H&R Block for many years.  He served both as an elder and a deacon in the Presbyterian Church and was a member of Little Church on the Prairie.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Carol;  sons Rob (Connie) of Incline Village, NV, and Kent of Tacoma; daughter Jane (Robert) and grandchildren, Kevin, Michael and Jacob Starr of Lakewood; sister Lou (Roy) Gering, Sun City West, AZ; nephew Doug (Suk-King) Gering, Berkeley, CA.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M on August 16 at Little Church on the Prairie, 6310 Motor Ave SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. Memorials may be made to the Church’s Deacons’ Fund.

Eric Shoning Evans, M.D. of Steilacoom, Washington died Thursday, August 1, 2013 just 8 days short of his 94th birthday.  He was born on August 9, 1919 in Portland, Oregon to Rolley G. Evans and Loie McGogy Evans.  He is survived by his wife, Carol, daughters Lynn Vance and Karen Baker and son Lawson Evans.  His grandchildren are Eric (Amanda) Vance, Robert (Katherine) Vance, Lawson Tate Evans, Sarah Baker and Natalie Baker.
His parents moved to California soon after he was born and he grew up in Los Angeles, graduated from John Marshall High School, Occidental College, and the California College of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine.  He practiced medicine in South Laguna, California for many years, then was a Medical Consultant for the State of California until retirement.  He and Carol then moved to a home on the Smith River in Northern California where they lived for 14 years until moving to Steilacoom.  He was a life member of the Orange County Medical Association, California Medical Association and the American Medical Association.  He was also a life member and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
The family requests memorials to the American Heart Association or Franciscan Hospice House.
Private graveside services will be held at El Toro Memorial Cemetery in Orange County, California by the family.
