For the last three years Clover Park Foundation (CPF)—a nonprofit organization committed to help fund many Clover Park School District programs—has sponsored a SMARTS instrumental band program. This program has brought instrumental music instruction to over 250 Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students.
These students, now, go on to Middle school band as experienced players. We have witnessed many positive transformations in these students as they make music a part of their lives. Administered properly, these students gain musical skills and build self-confidence.
To date, CPF has after-school band programs at Idlewild, Oakbrook and Greenwood. Each of these start-ups required instruments which CPF funded. Now, as SMARTS continues to grow and expand, the need for musical instruments increases.
We have partners who can repair used band instruments, so please consider a donation (a tax donation form is available at your request). Instruments can be delivered to the Communities In Schools of Lakewood office at 6402 100th St. SW, Lakewood, 98499. Please call 589-7489 before you deliver your instrument.
If you have any questions, you may contact David O’Keeffe at 589-7489 or John Watts at.588.1892. Your contributions are greatly appreciated. For more information go to www.cloverparkfoundation.org.
