Clover Park High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) cadets helped clean a trail on Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s (JBLM) Prairie Oak Preserve June 24-28. Nearly a half dozen cadets each day spent the week clearing Scotch broom and brush from a trail through the preserve. The original trail was a part of an Eagle Scout project in 2005.
“It’s great to be able to clear this brush and work as a team,” said senior Joey Kovolyan.
JROTC emphasizes service to the school and community in addition to promoting academic excellence and good citizenship. Several members of the Air Force’s 627 Civil Engineering Squadron also helped the cadets with the cleanup.
The environmental educational preserve is located north of Evergreen Elementary School.
