There is nothing like an ice cream sundae with berry toppings and crunchy sprinklings on a hot summer day. Or a root beer with a scoop of vanilla ice cream floating around in the mug. And if you can enjoy this with a panoramic vista across the Sound, a ferry plowing through the blue waters, the Olympic mountains beckoning from afar, and you are sitting in the shade of some 150 year old apple trees – then there’s only one place in the world for you!
The Annual 4th of July Ice Cream Social is sponsored by the Steilacoom Historical Museum Association (SHMA). SHMA invites everybody to spend some sweet relaxing time on Independence Day this year. Ice cream and root beer floats will be served 12:00 Noon thru 4:00 pm. There will be seating on the Museum patio on the corner of Rainier and Main Streets or on the lawn in the historic orchard. Of course, the Museum will be open and so will the Wagon Shop.
The SHMA Ice Cream Social is a traditional part of the 4th of July celebration in the oldest town in Washington State. There will be a great parade passing right by the Museum. And the whole downtown area of Steilacoom will be dedicated to celebration in a colorful and entertaining way. So start or finish your afternoon with a yummy SHMA ice cream sundae and stick around for Steilacoom’s stunning fireworks over the water.
