Summer grief groups at Mountain View Funeral Home

June 16, 2013 By Ben Sclair

By Geoff Piper, Grief Consultant

Grief doesn’t take the summer off. Summer grief support programs at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood offer education and help for those who have lost a loved one. Often people feel an increase in feelings of loss a few months after the death. Finding help when they need it can be a problem.

Mountain View’s popular Grief Recovery Method® Program provides 7 sessions based on the Grief Recovery Handbook by John James and Russell Friedman. A Grief Recovery Method Group will begin on Tuesday, June 18, noon to 2:00 pm. Registration is required.

Ongoing groups meet twice a month throughout the year. A group for people who have lost a spouse or life partner meets first and third Wednesdays, 6:30 to 8:00 pm. For people dealing with the loss of any loved one, a group meets second and fourth Thursdays, 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Registration is not required.

All of Mountain View’s groups are open to anyone in the community and are free of charge.

For more information about these grief support programs, call Geoff Piper at 253-217-7022 or e-mail gahpiper@gmail.com.
