Local American Red Cross Elects New Board Members

June 11, 2013 By Ben Sclair

TACOMA — The American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter elected three new members to the Board of Directors at the organization’s May meeting. Colonel David G. Johnson, Becci Syrek and Amy Tousley were added to the already-diverse leadership group.

Colonel Johnson, I Corps Public Affairs Officer at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, is a graduate of Iowa State University and the United States Army War College. He has been in public affairs since 1999.

Syrek, catering sales manager for the Olympia Red Lion, is also an IFSAC certified volunteer firefighter in Thurston County. She is also a Board Member for the Thurston Visitor and Convention Bureau.

Amy Tousley is the Municipal Liaison Manager at Puget Sound Energy. She sits on boards for several community organizations and has worked in urban and regional planning for the past 30 years.

Tracy Peacock, Chapter Executive of the American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter, said these new board members will be a true asset to the organization.

“We’re excited to welcome them to our growing team of advisors and Board Members,” Peacock said. “Their talent, vision and leadership skills will go far in guiding the local Red Cross in our partnership with JBLM and the Thurston community.”
