Robert Lee Harris (August 27, 1959 ~ May 19, 2013) was born in Tacoma, Washington to Robert and Charlene Harris of Lexington, Kentucky. With his loved ones by his side, Robert passed away peacefully in Fresno, California. It broke our hearts for him to leave us, but now he is with his Lord and family. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma cancer in March of last year. Robert fought cancer with such courage and strength. An optimist until the very end, he taught everyone the true meaning of life and how to live in the moment.
He is survived by his loving circle of friends. Robert grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Washington High in 1978. He worked as a pharmacy technician at Valley Medical Center in Renton for 15 years and then went back to school to become a pharmacist. In 1993, with a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Washington, he worked another 15 years at Valley Medical Center as a pharmacist. Later, he became interested in biotechnology and hoped to make a positive change in the world.
Robert found pleasure in helping others. He attracted loyal friends of many interests and loved them all dearly. He loved cats, traveling, being in the company of family and friends, among many other hobbies he was known for.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived, and will be greatly missed, by his many friends in Seattle and in Fresno, California.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Tacoma on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. Immediately following will be a Graveside Service at New Tacoma Cemetery in University Place, Washington at 2:00 p.m.
