Recent club projects include participating in Caring for Kids activities; making a difference in the sight and hearing of the youth in both Clover Park and Steilacoom school districts by doing basic hearing and vision screening at the request of school nurses; recycling eyeglasses; holding three celebrations a year at Springbrook Park and partnering with the Boys and Girls Club and other community organizations to provide a summer program at the park; and focusing, through Lion Project New Hope NW, on ways to reach veterans and educate them and their spouses about the resources associated with the return from combat deployment.
Lakewood First Lions Club members adhere to two guiding philosophies – serving the community and relishing the fun and camaraderie. “Live like a Lion” is more than a slogan – it’s a calling. For more information go to lakewoodfirstlions.org/ or call 253-222-3742.
