Annie Wright to host presentation on integrating IB into elementary school

May 26, 2013 By Ben Sclair

TACOMA — Little known fact: The International Baccalaureate, or IB, isn’t just for high school. In fact, IB offers programs for students as young as three. On Tuesday, May 28, at 5:30 pm, Annie Wright Schools will host a presentation on the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), a flexible curriculum for students aged three to twelve that focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and the outside world.

The evening will include an overview of the PYP curriculum, including teacher and student presentations, specific examples of classroom projects and student work, and plenty of time for questions.

Originally developed for children of diplomats, IB programs, currently offered to more than one million students in nearly 150 countries, encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners. These programs also provide a framework to assess performance according to world standards. The IB Diploma Programme is already well established at Annie Wright, and the school is in the process of adopting the PYP in Preschool to Grade 5.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged. Please visit www.aw.org/pyp to register and learn more.
