DuPont, WA – Thirteen year DuPont resident, Bob Forbes has announced his candidacy for Director Position No. 3 of the Steilacoom Historical School District.
“My priorities as a board member will be to ensure that the curriculum is exceeding the state standards and that no child is lost through the cracks of the educational system; that our school properties are well maintained to provide a safe and welcome environment for our children; and that our extracurricular activities are fully supported so we can provide a well-rounded experience beyond the classroom,” noted Forbes.
Bob Forbes is a retired colonel in the Washington Army National Guard and has served in numerous leadership positions including I Corps Deputy Chief of Staff, Brigade Executive Officer, and Battalion Commander. He has been a company vice president in the vacation industry and a production supervisor in the semi-conductor industry.
Forbes graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Washington and his Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, PA.
Forbes currently is the volunteer scorekeeper for the Steilacoom High School girls’ swim team and has served in the past as a volunteer assistant wrestling coach. He has previous school board experience in a different district and is an avid bicyclist. Forbes is a published author and is currently working on his second book.
Forbes has been a resident of DuPont for the past 13 years. He is married to Mary J. (Costello) Forbes (28 years) and has five children, two of whom are currently attending Steilacoom High School.
Forbes has been endorsed by Dick Muri, former Pierce County Council member and Steilacoom School Board director; Penny Coffey and Mike Courts, DuPont City Council members; and numerous other civic leaders.
