May 14, 2013 By Clover Park School District

By Gary Sabol, Community Relations Manager

Three Clover Park School District (CPSD) employees were honored as Employees of the Year at a districtwide celebration May 13. Since 1987, CPSD has honored exemplary employees in three categories: certificated, classified and administrative. Award recipients are chosen by an independent panel of Lakewood citizens. 2013 CPSD Employees of the Year are:

  • Nichole Moeller, Certificated Employee of the Year;
  • Charles Skipwith, Classified Employee of the Year; and
  • Ron Banner, Administrative Employee of the Year.

Nichole Moeller, Charles Skipwith and Ron Banner were selected May 13 as Clover Park School District’s Employees of the Year. Nichole Moeller, second-grade teacher, Greenwood Elementary
Nichole has a laser focus on student learning and achievement. She partners with teachers and parents to provide high quality learning experiences for her students. Through her partnership with students and staff, she works diligently to create events at Greenwood that support schoolwide learning and community. Every child in her class gets top-notch instruction. Her class is always engaged which is evident when they are in class or the library. Her principal said, “As a teacher, Nichole runs a classroom that is organized, engaging and exudes caring.”

Charles Skipwith, chief custodian, Oakwood Elementary
Charles is a role model for students and staff alike with his can-do attitude and positive, welcoming disposition. He is an example of what it looks like to take pride in your work and be successful in what you do. His dedication to Oakwood is not only evident in his maintenance of our buildings but also in his treatment of those around him. When talking to Charles you can feel you are part of the Oakwood community, where everyone chips in and cares for one another. An Oakwood teacher said, “Our students know they can count on him if they need help and his care for them is evident.”

Ron Banner, principal, Mann Middle School
Ron epitomizes Clover Park School District’s mission of helping students not only become good citizens and life-long learners but also caring, healthy individuals. He consistently leads staff and students in celebrating district initiatives and accomplishments at school and within our community. Staff, parents and students choose to be part of our school and CPSD because of Ron’s strong leadership and commitment to all students. A Mann student said, “Mr. Banner is without a doubt, one of the most supportive, inspirational and caring principals that I have ever known.”
