May Travel Talk Focuses on American Opportunities in Southeast Asia

May 13, 2013 By Ben Sclair

By Jen Willey, Annie Wright Schools

David Bovee, an investment banker from Seattle, will present “An American Perspective on Southeast Asia: Emphasizing the rapid growth and change in Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and China,” on Wednesday, May 15, 7:00-8:30 pm at Annie Wright Schools. His presentation is part of the Travel Talk Series from the World Affairs Council Tacoma, held once at month at Annie Wright.

An independent financial advisor based in both Seattle and Shanghai, David will speak about on current economic and social trends in Southeast Asia, featuring commentary and visuals from a recent trip to Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. Learn how the demand for cheap labor is causing industries to move from China and Vietnam into Cambodia. Will ethnic and religious tension in Myanmar hamper its opening? Juxtaposed to China, these countries are each uniquely different and offer opportunities – for travel and leisure, business and investment.

Travel Talk is a monthly program of the World Affairs Council, featuring provocative speakers, fascinating countries and important issues from around the globe. The talks are free.
