LAKEWOOD – Gov. Jay Inslee will be the keynote speaker at a grand opening event for the Zero Energy House at Clover Park Technical College on May 9 at noon.
The event will take place at the Lakewood Campus of CPTC in front of the newly completed home. The ZEH is a small home built by students at CPTC in the Sustainable Building Sciences program. Dan Smith, Sustainable Building Science instructor, conceptualized the project. Instructional programs across the College contributed to the design and building of the home for more than three years.
Following Inslee’s address, tours will be given of the home highlighting the features that keep the house at zero energy consumption.
In conjunction with the ZEH Grand Opening event, CPTC will be hosting 3,000 high school students for its annual career conference and host an open house event in the McGavick Center also at the Lakewood Campus. The event is open to the public and will showcase the college’s programs, feature a car show, an ECO Fair and an Aerospace Fair.
