LAKEWOOD – The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation (GTCF) has announced that Communities In Schools of Lakewood (CISL) has been awarded a $7,000 grant as a part of the Vibrant Community Grants Program. Funds will be used to support CISL programs at Tyee Park, Tillicum, Southgate and Oakwood Elementary Schools, and Lochburn Middle school.
GTCF is a trusted partner with the Pierce County community, fostering generosity by connecting people who care with causes that matter. “Using our in-depth knowledge of the community, we selected grant opportunities that help sustain and strengthen not only the nonprofit organizations themselves, but the broader community,” said Rose Lincoln Hamilton, President & CEO of The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation. In 2012, the Community Foundation awarded nearly $3.8 million in scholarships and grants to nonprofit organizations.
CISL Programs are designed to prepare students for successful transitions into middle school, high school and college/career preparation.
