Pierce County Department of Emergency Management Water Rescue Training:
On May 16th, PC DEM will be coordinating training for up to 22 agencies at Sunnyside Park. The training emphasis relates to water-related rescues and other water-related activities. The park will be closed to the public until 6 PM that day.
We have tentatively rescheduled a lateral police officer oral board on May 10th in order to increase the potential officer candidate pool.
Sequalish Street Reconstruction Project:
A utility coordination meeting is scheduled for May 7, 2013. This meeting is limited to Town staff, our engineers, and utility purveyors, and is essential to ensure coordination of all of the underground utilities. This corridor has many conflicts which will need to be resolved.
Public Works Facility Reroof:
The contractor continued reroofing the Public Works facility. The contractor has completed the roof portion and is installing the “roof caps”.
The Spring Clean-up was April 27th and 28th from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Public Works facility. Approximately 560 loads were processed. Thank you to all who volunteered to help with the event and Terry Huber, Public Works Analyst, for coordinating it.

The Crew continued to perform right of way and street sign maintenance throughout Town.
The Crew performed maintenance functions on the street lights and foliage in the Tunnel of Trees. They also repaired the float system at the dock lift station, completed monthly system checks, and continued to troubleshoot the SCADA system communication challenges.
The Crew flushed dead-end water mains, assisted the Electric Crew, and performed other system maintenance.
Parks and Grounds:
The Crew performed maintenance activities at all of the parks and removed a 20+ piece of metal boat debris from the beach at Sunnyside Park.
