LAKEWOOD – The newly formed K-Kids Club in Lakewood was presented with a charter from Clover Park Kiwanis last week. The local K-Kids Club (Kiwanis Kids Club) is established at the Lakewood Boys & Girls Club.

With over 36,000 children members, K-Kids learn leadership through service. The kids are taking on the responsibility of running a K-Kids club as they plan and participate in community service projects, such as assisting the elderly, organizing food drives, and raising funds for their schools and after-school programs. The Lakewood K-Kids Club has already held a book drive and they plan to have a team at the Lakewood Relay for Life event at the end of May.

K-Kids is an international student-led organization providing members with opportunities to perform service, build character, and develop leadership. The Clover Park Kiwanis group is proud to welcome the local Lakewood branch as a Kiwanis affiliate.

You may be a little old to join K-Kids, but you are never too old to join Kiwanis. At Clover Park Kiwanis, we are always looking for individuals who want to serve in their community. Lakewood’s youth and community are always in need of help. Come down to the Ram Restaurant at 10019 59th Ave SW, Lakewood any Tuesday from 12:00-1:00 PM and see what Kiwanis is all about. Lunch is provided for first-timers.

For membership details email Gary Aleshire, Members Chair at glaleshire@hotmail.com

You can also email Mike Darrah, President dmichael75@comcast.net

We’ll see you on Tuesday.
