Colonel David L. Deutsch M.D., 93, passed away April 20, 2013 at his home in Lakewood, WA. He was born on March 3, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to Jacob and Ida (Ansel) Deutsch.
He graduated from the University of Illinois from the College of Medicine in 1943 and served in the US Army for over two decades. David served as Chief of Medicine at Madigan Hospital and also serviced as Deputy Chief of Medicine in Frankfurt, Germany. David met his wife Allane and they married in 1962 in San Francisco while he was stationed at Letterman. Their first son, Walter was born in Germany where David was stationed in 1965 and their second son, Charles, was born two years later in Lancaster, CA. David retired from the Army in 1970 and went on to private practice with his brother Harry in Lancaster, CA which he left in 1986. Later in life, David also worked for the State of Washington Disability Determination Services consulting on medical claims for the Social Security Administration and then for the State of Washington determining eligibility for State Medical Coverage.
David is survived by his wife Allane; sons Walter (Jessica) and Charles, and grandchildren Mallory and Isaac. He was preceded in death by his siblings Saul, Harry, Sidney and Lillian.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home’s Garden Chapel. Committal services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
