Interviews with five firms are scheduled for Wednesday, April 24th.
Sunnyside Crossing:
BNSF crews continue to perform maintenance work along their lines throughout Town including replacing sections of the crossing at Sunnyside Park. Unfortunately, their work resulted in only pedestrians being able to access the park (versus service vehicles). Staff continues to try to coordinate with BNSF officials and mitigate the impact of their work to our projects.
Public Safety:
Pierce County Department of Emergency Management Water Rescue Training:
On May 16th, PC DEM will be coordinating training for up to 22 agencies at Sunnyside Park. The training emphasis relates to water-related rescues and other water-related activities. The park will be closed to the public until 6 PM that day.
Staffing:
We have tentatively scheduled a lateral police officer oral board on April 25th. At this time, we have two confirmed lateral candidates and one reserve candidate.
Public Works:
General:
Sequalish Street Reconstruction Project:
An Open House for the public is scheduled for April 23, 2013, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Town Hall. All are invited to come, review, and discuss the project with Town staff and our engineers.
A utility coordination meeting is scheduled for May 8, 2013. This meeting is limited to Town staff, our engineers, and utility purveyors, and is essential to ensure coordination of all of the underground utilities. This corridor has many conflicts which will need to be resolved.
Public Works Facility Reroof:
The contractor continued reroofing the Public Works facility. We anticipate the project should last approximately one more week depending upon the weather.
Spring Clean-up:
Spring Clean-up is scheduled for April 27th and 28th from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Public Works facility. Volunteer opportunities are still available. Contact Terry Huber at 581-1912 for more information.
Streets and Storm:
The Crew is performing street sign maintenance throughout Town.
Electrical:
The Crew installed the vault and primary line for phase 1 of the Norberg Development. Additionally, they repaired the radio communication link for the Cormorant Passage lift station.
Main and Lafayette Street Electrical Projects:
These projects were advertised beginning April 8th. The projected bid closing date is April 24th. Two addendums were issued this week clarifying portions of the projects.
Water/Sewer:
The Crew repaired the wet well level gage (“bubbler”) at the Dock Lift Station and flushed sewer mains.
DOE officials inspected the underground fuel storage tank at the Sunnyside Lift Station.
Parks and Grounds:
The Crew performed maintenance activities and coordinated materials and volunteers for other projects.
The Cedar Creek Work Crew worked at Town Hall and Cormorant Park mowing, edging, and performing other maintenance activities. Due to the conditions, the Crew was required to hand-mow Cormorant.
On Monday, 30-40 students from Harrison Preparatory School will be performing maintenance activities at Sunnyside Park including redecking the picnic tables, picking up litter on the beach, spreading an additional 40 yards of sand in the volleyball courts, and sweeping the parking lot.
Also on Monday at Sunnyside, members of the Parks’ Task Force will be replanting beach grass in the area near the entrance of the Park where a memorial bench will be installed on Saturday. This is being done in conjunction with and part of an Eagle Scout project.
On Friday the 26th, a troop of girl scouts assisted by adult volunteers will be planting 20 seedlings in the Cherrydale Woods area in celebration of Arbor Day.
