Patricia Ann Selden lived in Steilacoom for 62 years, in a wonderful home filled with children, grandchildren, flowers and friends, until her death on April 2, 2013.
Born Patricia Ann Byron on November 3, 1920 at home in Machias to Robert Emmett and Leefa (Anderson) Byron, Pat, the youngest of three children lived on the family farm until she graduated from Snohomish HS in 1938.
In 1942 Pat married Donald Eugene Swanson and went with him to California and Texas for flight training before returning to Everett for the remainder of WWII. Pat and Don’s four children were born there and the family moved to Saltars Point in 1951.
Pat married Ed Selden in 1967. Together and with family they ran Ed Selden Floor Covering, built their cabin on the Cowlitz in Packwood, and traveled several continents including many enjoyable road trips through the N. Americas.
She will be remembered as devoted to her family, a great cook known especially for her pies, a talented seamstress, an avid reader, a lifetime member of the Steilacoom Historical Museum Assoc. and a gifted gardener.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Winifred Potter (Don), brother Robert Byron (Mary), son-in-law Rudy Cribb and step son-in-law Kurt Mayer, and son Daniel Swanson.
Three days before her death, she lost her beloved sister-in-law Mary Byron. She is survived by her daughters Bob-Ann Cribb, Sallie Kessey (Bob) and Randi Slatten (Terry), step children Pam Mayer, Marsha Williams (Lloyd), and Rick Selden (Sharon), and eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A private graveside and interment took place at New Tacoma Cemetery. Donations may be directed to your favorite charity. A celebration of her life for all family and friends will be held at the Steilacoom Town Hall, 3 p.m. on April 14.
