Adam McCombs, an 8th grader at Harrison Prep was among the more than 500 presenters at the 56th Washington State Science and Engineering Fair in Bremerton on April 5th and 6th, 2013. Adam presented his project, “A Study of River Erosion and How to Prevent It” to the judges and earned the following awards:
- First Place for 8th Grade Students
- Nominated to compete in the Broadcom Masters Program. A opportunity to receive an expense paid trip to Washington DC to compete for a $25,000 Grand Prize.
- Certificate of Excellence from the Washington Society of Professional Soil Scientist. This award of $50 is presented for the best project related to soil science. WSPSS encourages students to present a project that elucidates soil function and importance in the overall picture of earth sciences.
- Pacific Science Center Award.
