The Truth Teller • The Puget Sound Herald… • News from Steilacoom
These are just a few names of early Pierce County newspapers. During National Newspaper Week, Oct. 7-13, an exhibit of these papers, along with examples of early Tacoma newspapers, is on display at the Tribune’s State Street office. The free exhibit is open from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. daily.
To mark the 72nd occasion of NNW (Newspaper Association Managers, the organization of directors and managers of newspaper associations, has sponsored National Newspaper Week since 1940), the News Tribune invites its readers to view a newspaper exhibit, not only of historic front pages from the Tribune and the Daily Ledger, but also to view photo copies of the earliest papers published in Pierce County, specifically those from the Town of Steilacoom. This exhibit includes the 1855 edition of The Puget Sound Courier.
