What does Kiwanis Club of Clover Park do to stay busy? A few of our projects include Adopt-a-Street (Washington Blvd); providing concessions for community functions; Paint Tacoma/Pierce Beautiful (this year’s house is in UP and we are working in conjunction with Kiwanis Club of Greater Tacoma); supporting local high school Keys Clubs and our newly formed Aktion Club for adults with disabilities.
Does this sound like something you would like to be involved in? If so, come visit our club and enjoy a “free” lunch and learn how we give back to our community, supporting various causes but always focusing on the youth. Every Tuesday you may join us at 12:00 at the RAM Restaurant, 10019 59th Ave SW, Lakewood.
The giving back is what we are all about. We direct our passion to the enhancement of children; we help not only that child, but their family and ultimately our community. Join us as we give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream and succeed. Help this volunteer group as we raise funds in support of various local programs.
Please keep in your prayers our military personnel who are away from their friends, family and loved ones and we wish each of them a safe journey.
Drive safely this summer as our children are now on summer break and will be out and about during the day. Also, your Clover Park Kiwanians will be keeping Washington Blvd clean through the Adopt-A-Street program, so won’t you give us a brake!
Key Club Report by Division 35, Lt Governor, Wyatt Fisher, Clover Park HS Key Club. From June 26-July 6, 50 PNW Key Clubbers attended the 68 Annual Key Club International Convention in Phoenix, AZ. Funds were raised by the individuals to attend. Meetings and caucuses resulted in new officers for the House of Delegates. Fund raising netted over $15000 to help eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Workshops broaden their knowledge of what Kiwanis is all about. In all, the kids had a great time and saw a lot of the western states during their bus ride down and back.
Upcoming for the Key Clubbers is a District Council Meeting to be held at Ft Steilacoom Park, July 18, 1:00PM. It is a picnic so bring some munchies and enjoy.
Our sponsored Aktion Club of Clover Park will meet July 22, 5:30-6:30 PM at the Ist Baptist Church on 112th. Any adult (18 plus) with a disability who wants to give back to their community may attend, and join. Contact Betty Knauf, Kiwanis advisor, at 253-579-3695. They are doing amazing things already. Come find out.
