A three-month project to upgrade Starling Street began on July 5, according to Mark Burlingame, Steilacoom’s Public Works Director. Tucci and Sons was the awarding contractor (low bidder) with a low bid of $1,383,396.98. Tucci and Sons received a notice to proceed with the work on June 13 and actually began to mobilize on July 5. The project is anticipated to continue at least through September and will involve replacement of all of the utilities, followed with curb/gutter/sidewalk replacement along the north side and new asphalt roadway from Union Ave. to Main St., Burlingame said.
