Caring for Kids is gearing up for three back to school events for kids in need this year. With the three events we expect to help approximately 3,000 kids in our community. This year we will hold our annual Ready to Learn Fair on August 13th plus the Springbrook Park celebration in collaboration with the Lakewood First Lions and another celebration at Tillicum Community Center.
We would like the community to please help us by volunteering, donating school supplies and hygiene products or a monetary donation would be gladly accepted. In the last two weeks we have collected the lost and found from 21 schools. This is over 100 large garbage bags of clothing that we sort for washing. To be honest this is a very nasty job, but we are able to recycle many great clothing items for free. School supplies are purchased once they go on sale and it takes about 40 trips to stock up for August.
If you would like to help us:
Volunteering would include washing clothes (they do not have to be folded), sorting clothes, working at the Ready to Learn Fair setting up on Friday the 12th and/or working the fair on the 13th.
Donations of new school supplies and hygiene products can be dropped off at the main administration building at Clover Park School District.
Monetary donations can be sent to Caring for Kids, Diane Formoso, 237 Eldorado Avenue, Fircrest, WA 98466. We are an all volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization.
Caring for Kids is making a difference in our community!
